Links to Records

Below are the links I used to find information and records on the Todds:

FREE RECORDS ONLINE

Georgia's Virtual Vault- part of the state archives

Wayne County Georgia Genealogy

Charlton County Georgia Records
- part of the Baker Co. FL Historical Society

The Crypt: History and Genealogy of Camden and Charlton Counties, Georgia- here is where you'll find cemetery records of many Todds, mainly at Sardis Cemetery.

GaGenWeb Archives- check out the counties of Tattnall, Toombs, Wayne, Evans, Charlton, and Coffee. Not really that many mention of Todds altogether.

FlGenWeb Volusia County- Some Todds, including Martha Todd Campbell (Jacob G. Todd, Edward D. Todd), buried at Osteen Cemetery and also census records.

FlGenWeb Lake County- records for George Washington Todd, son of either James W. Todd or Jemima Todd, and his family.

American History and Genealogy Project- a site similiar to USGenWeb.

GSU DocuWeb- this page explains how to access the Civil War Pension application records.

Georgia's Historic Newspapers

SEARCH ENGINES

Social Security Death Index
at RootsWeb

Family Search- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints genealogy website

FAMILY TREES

The Todd/Beckham Family Home Page for the ancestors of Edward D. Todd

World Connect Family Trees for Edward D. Todd at RootsWeb

Ancestry.com has more family trees than offered at RootsWeb, which itself is part of Ancestry, but you need to pay a subscription to view them.

CENSUS RECORDS

Personally, I think genealogy research is practically impossible without access to census records. USGenWeb which GaGenWeb and FlGenWeb are a part of has transcriptions or images of some census records.

You can access census records at Ancestry.com with a paid subscription, and it's not cheap. What I do is access Heritage Quest through my local library's web page and log on using my library card number. See if your library offers the same.

OFF THE INTERNET

Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia (Huxford Gen. Soc. pub.) Link is to their website, no online records offered. Check your local library to see if they have the volumes.

Family Search Library Catalog (the LDS site)- link is to search engine where you can borrow microfilm for a small fee. As an example of the records available for Tattnall County Georgia by doing a place search:
Georgia, Tattnall
And here's what's available under Probate Records.
