I am a fifth generation descendant of Edward D. Todd. My grandfather was the son of John N. Todd, who was the son of Jacob Giles Todd. My grandfather migrated to Florida before 1930 where four more generations of Todds have been born.
I am not a professional genealogist. Nor am I an expert on the Todds. With a few exceptions, practically everything in this blog came from sources that are easily available online. Check Records online link in the tabbed navigation header for websites where you can find these records.
While there are family trees for Edward D. Todd, or some of his descendants, here and there, many of them are not complete. Some only focus on one person per generation, perhaps because they were direct ancestors, and others have details on some family members but not on others.
The genealogy of Edward D. Todd in this blog is by no means 100% complete, but I attempted to gather as much information as I could from my own research and from different sources and put them in one place so it's a more comprehensive and cohesive genealogy.

This is Robert Wilcox. I have to plead guilty of being wrong about George W Todd's parentage. Please remove the reference to my post. A careful look at the 1900 census, now that I subscribe to Ancestry, tells the whole story. Color my face red on that one, but I'm glad to know the truth.

my grandmother is the daughter of Jacob C. Todd and Roseann Jane her name was Loney Mae Todd born in 1903, I have been trying for along time to find more information and would love some help

I believe your ancestors are Jacob C. Todd m. Rosa Bacon. Jacob is Mary Elizabeth Todd's son, father unknown. There is no Rosa Bacon around age 7 in 1880 in either Tattnall or Liberty, so I have no idea who her parents are. You can find them under the post titled Mary Elizabeth Todd's children and grandchildren. There is a Lonie in the 1910 and 1920 censuses. Beyond that, I have no further info. I'm sorry.

HI folks,
It seems like there are a fair number of people interested in the family history of Edward Todd b 1805, but not may people interested in using DNA to determine Edward's parentage. At least, not right now, I suspect that over time, as more people get interested in genealogy, that situation will change.
In the meantime, since Jamie Todd has agreed to do a DNA test, I think it would be good to get that sample into the lab and put it into storage. If anyone would just notify Jamie if they were interested in contributing to the DNA test - either $13 or $26 - and when Jamie had enough pledges to pay for the DNA sample, then he could contact me and we could proceed to get the sample analyzed.
Does that sound like a good idea?

HI folks,
An amazing and surprising discovery! A DNA sample result was received today that turns out to be a sample from William E. Todd b 1835 a son of Edward D. Todd b 1805.
The DNA matches the pattern of the family of Joseph Todd d 1699 Philadelphia. So this proves that Edward D. Todd was the son of a male Todd belonging in some way to the family of Joseph Todd d1699.
This explains the tradition that John came from Philadelphia though we are not yet sure what the connection is.
This also means that the DNA sample we have from a descendant of John Washington Todd must have had an adoption somewhere in the lineage and that another sample from the John Washington Todd line would be needed.
I'm excited to at long last know the connection.
We also got a DNA sample from a family in Fife Scotland that may match your family as well.

It turns out that the DNA sample that I thought was from William E. Todd was from another family. So please disregard everything I said about the new DNA sample.
However, there is a DNA sample from the William E. Todd (son of Edward) that hopefully will be taken over Christmas.
